{"id":33,"date":"2007-06-05T21:16:51","date_gmt":"2007-06-06T02:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamescheat.ca\/?p=33"},"modified":"2019-09-04T19:57:41","modified_gmt":"2019-09-05T00:57:41","slug":"the-beginning-of-cupid-post-online-dating-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamescheat.ca\/?p=33","title":{"rendered":"The beginning of Cupid Post Online Dating Site"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: right;\"><div style=\"margin: 15px 15px 15px 15px\";><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"pub-3319935785736004\";\ngoogle_alternate_color = \"FFFFFF\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 200;\ngoogle_ad_height = 200;\ngoogle_ad_format = \"200x200_as\";\ngoogle_ad_type = \"text_image\";\ngoogle_ad_channel =\"\";\ngoogle_color_border = \"cccccc\";\ngoogle_color_link = \"cc0000\";\ngoogle_color_bg = \"ffffff\";\ngoogle_color_text = \"000000\";\ngoogle_color_url = \"008000\";\n\/\/--><\/script>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\n  src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div><\/div><p>I started <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cupidpost.com\" title=\"Cupid\">Cupid<\/a> Post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cupidpost.com\" title=\"online dating service\">online dating service<\/a> two years ago, I need something to spend my spare time with.\u00c2\u00a0 After months of research and procrastinating I took the plunge and launched a completely free <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cupidpost.com\" title=\"online dating site\">online dating site<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Why free, well how else could I compete for membership given that the internet was saturated with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cupidpost.com\" title=\"dating websites\">dating websites<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Originally I decided to build a Windows 2003 server to host <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cupidpost.com\" title=\"cupid\">Cupid<\/a> Post, but eventually I decided to go with Red Hat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamescheat.ca\">Linux<\/a> 9.\u00c2\u00a0 The reason for my change in direction was because Linux was free and came with a lot of other free software, such as PHP, Mysql, sendmail, ftp, apache etc.\u00c2\u00a0 Well I had never used Linux before and was pretty strong on the Microsoft platform.\u00c2\u00a0 But I decided that I could learn as I went along, fifteen years of experienced in information technology had taught me that the beast way to learn a program is to actually do it.\u00c2\u00a0 I decided that this would be a good way for me to finally learn Linux.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I downloaded Redhat 9, burnt the ISO images onto CDs and started installing it on my newly built server.\u00c2\u00a0 After many versions of trial and errors I finally had it installed and configured just the way I wanted.\u00c2\u00a0 It was not an easy task, I bought Linux books, and read many documentation on the internet.\u00c2\u00a0 The end result was a server configured with Raid 1, tape drive, Apache, vftp, PHP, mysql, sendmail and squirrel mail.
