Email is a great means of communication, but it can also be a pain

I do not know what I would do without the ability to send and receive emails.  I know I would loose many friends and relatives because I would not keep in touch with them had it not been the convenience of email.  I don’t think I can go back to the days of writing letters to keep in touch,   sitting there trying to figure out how to write a page worth of text.  Unlike the convenience of email, I can just drop a few words and click on send.  With email the need to worry about what to write is of the past, you can simply only day Hi, how are you.

Anyhow, I really want to vent today about idiots that use email.  At my workplace much like many other workplaces, we have the luxury of personal email accounts.  But there are many dummies that choose to abuse the system,  it is the culture of my company to send out broadcast email announcing an achievement, it could be a promotion or the birth of a child.  All this is done in good spirit and may perhaps be a factor in employee retention.  But there are many email dummies who will reply to all copied in the broadcast, in turn sending everyone their meaningless congratulatory words.  When these responses should only have been sent to the person who good fortune has fallen upon. It annoys me that I have to sit there in my busy day to read and delete such nonsense not meant for me.  Soon you get a flood of idiots wanting to jump on the coat tail of someone else’s success.  Again instead of only sending the email to the one person, they decided to click on reply all and broadcast their meaningless congratulatory message.

Being the IT person, email administration is also one of my many skills.  I was asked by a senior manager to send out a friendly email to all asking them not to click on reply all to a broadcasted message.  I did that and it did not slow down the idiots from doing what they had to do.  What are you gonna do?  You can teach a monkey how to type but you cannot teach it to read instructions.

Next Day : Well here is the continuation from yesterday.  This morning I sent out instructions on how to reply to a broadcasted email.  Below is the email and it works, only one moron choose to ignore this email.

Recent events indicate there is a demand for instructions on how to reply to a broadcasted email, so here it is.

To reply to only specific recipients do the following:

(1)     Open broadcasted email to read it
(2)     Using mouse click on ‘Forward’ on the menu bar
(3)     Click on ‘To’
(4)     Enter first name of recipient where cursor is flashing
(5)     You may have to click on ‘Find’ for Web based email users (at stores)
(6)     Double click on the name of person you wish to send email to
(7)     Repeat steps if more than one recipient
(8)     Don’t forget to enter your message in the content field

If you choose to disregard the above instructions, you may inadvertently invoke the forbidden rule, “My email stopped working ruleâ€?.  For repeat offenders “I lost all network access rule” will be invoked.  To reverse the effect of the rule, you will need to provide two photo IDs along with a pay stub for the year 3000.

The rules are programmed to automatically apply.
